Apply for Financial Aid through Clarity
We utilize the Clarity to help us look beyond a family’s financial analysis so we can see a complete picture. The application process through Clarity is as streamlined and user-friendly way for families to securely share key information. To assist with your application, we’ve compiled the following instructions and FAQs.
* Please note, most families are able to complete the Clarity Application in less than 30 minutes. The application is also mobile-friendly and does not need to be completed in a single setting; you can always save your progress and return later.
Your account will not be carried over from other financial aid systems you may have used in previous years.

- Tahoe Expedition Academy takes the privacy and security of your personal information very seriously. Clarity is certified for both GDPR and SOC2 and uses enterprise-level security standards including end-to-end encryption of all personally identifiable information. For more information, please refer to Clarity’s Privacy Policy.
- Clarity offers a streamlined, mobile friendly application that can be completed in as short a time as 20 minutes. Additionally, Clarity removes the need to upload your latest W2 and 1040 by transferring them directly from the IRS. This reduces the amount of information that you will need to enter manually and makes it possible to complete the application quickly and efficiently.

Notification of Financial Aid
Once your application is processed, a financial aid recommendation will be forwarded to Tahoe Expedition Academy. All final financial aid decisions, including notification of an award amount (if any) will be made by Tahoe Expedition Academy. If you have not received notification regarding financial aid, contact the Admissions Team.
Online Application Instructions
Step 1 – Household Information
Parent/Guardian
Enter the parent or guardian’s contact information. Dependent: Enter all dependents that live in the household. Later, you will have the opportunity to invite parents and guardians from outside of your household to create their own account and fill out a separate application.
Step 2 – Background Questions
The questions on this page will help streamline the application for you. To ensure we’re asking questions that are relevant to you and your circumstances, the answer you provide here will impact the questions you see later in the application.
Step 3 – Verification
Clarity will fill in most of the information on the Form 4506c for you. Be sure that the information that has been filled in for you is correct. Make changes as you won’t be able to edit once signed. Each member of your household will need to enter their own social security number and sign this form.
Step 4 – Financial
If your current year taxable income is not finalized, list your best estimate(s). You may be required to submit additional documentation for verification. You will also indicate assets and expenses in this section.
Step 5 – Review & Submit
The fee to submit your Clarity application is $60. This is a flat fee, meaning that it does not change whether you apply for one or multiple children, and to one or multiple schools.
Step 6 – Documentation Requests
You may receive requests to upload additional documents. From your main homepage, you will be able to upload these files under the Documents section of your portal.
Step 7 – Financial Aid Notification
Once your application is complete and you’ve uploaded all the requested documents, we will review your application. Decisions will be sent out prior to receiving your enrollment agreement(s).

FAQ
Q: Why did TEA choose Clarity?
A: We have chosen Clarity as our financial aid application provider in order to better serve both our current and prospective families. We are confident that this change is going to make the process of applying for financial aid easier for families.
Q: Where do I get an access code?
A: Please check with our admissions team directly if an access code is needed to start your application.
Q: What is the status of my application?
A: You can find the current status of your application on your main homepage. If it says “submitted” and you’ve fulfilled all documents being requested, you should be set. If you have any questions about your status, please check with our admissions office directly for any updates.
Q: Where do I get a fee waiver?
A: Please check with our admissions team directly. Clarity does not provide these directly.
Q: I don’t have a specific document to upload that is being requested. What should I do?
A: Please reach out to the admissions team directly.
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: Clarity’s application policy is non refundable and the only exceptions that can be made is if the school is requesting this directly.
Q: What if the IRS rejects my 4506c form?
A: Please refer to the email you will receive from Clarity that will outline which tax documents we will need your household to manually upload.
Q: I live outside the United States, can I still apply for financial aid through Clarity?
A: Yes, along with the student’s application, all families must fill out the Clarity application to the best of their ability including the Non-US Tax Filer Verification upload. If you live in Canada, you will be prompted to upload your T1, T4 and Notice of Assessment.
