Girls Middle School Basketball participants enjoyed their inaugural season competing against member schools in the Tah-Neva League, the governing body for middle school athletics in Truckee, Tahoe, Reno and beyond.
High School Students Study Biomimicry to Inspire Design Thinking
This field study was successful in pushing students to think of nature in a new way and appreciate what it has done well. Students learned how we can be inspired by natural phenomena. They learned how to look to nature to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them creatively.
1st-Graders Learn About Food, Farms, and Yoga!
To kick off their semester-long thematic lens, our 1st-Graders started exploring the different types of food we eat as a way to build background knowledge for studying farming.
HS Film Students Partner With a Local Artist to Build a Giant Camera Out of Wood
In order to understand the steps required to produce high-quality content that inspires viewers, we need to understand the tools and skills used by professional content creators at the highest level. To gain this knowledge specific to cameras, our Film Intensive students are working with Ian Ruhter, a professional artist based in South Lake Tahoe.
4th-Graders Visit Yosemite to Explore Land Ownership, Use, and Stewardship
For their first semester thematic unit, our 4th-Grade Snow Valley Crew is exploring land ownership, use, and stewardship from various perspectives, and through the lenses of social studies (history & policy), science (erosion, climate change), and language arts (art & writing that champions wilderness).

TEA Students Head to UNR to Investigate the Climate Strike
In order to help our students investigate ways in which they can act as global citizens and be stewards of the world, our 6-12th-graders recently attended a Global Climate Strike in Reno, at UNR on Friday, September 20, 2019.
3rd-graders seek to protect our local waterways
Our 3rd-grade crew is currently looking at water quality and various factors that influence it. In these first few weeks of school, students have begun their study of water by learning about the water cycle, studying the concept of one “global well”, and looking at threats to our freshwater resources.
Pre-K Crew Visits With Truckee Seniors to Work on Face-to-Face Communication
For this fieldwork experience, the Pre-K kiddos kicked things off with some team building activities in the park. After that, the students passed out flyers inviting the seniors to a day of Fall Solstice arts and craft making. They spent the rest of the day spending time with their new friends by going on walks and eating lunch together. What a wonderful way to connect the two communities. Students have the power to solve real-world problems here and now, so that’s what we do at TEA. And along the way, we integrate national standards into the work being done by our students.
