Springtime on a Farm in Cool, CA
"It was hard, messy work and the students even impressed themselves with how much they accomplished."
TEA 7th Graders had a productive trip to 49er Farm last week, where they helped prep the garden for Spring planting. It was hard, messy work and the students even impressed themselves with how much they accomplished. But they also got to enjoy a beautiful sunset, and some quiet moments of reflection on this beautiful property in Cool, CA.
This effort is part of TEA’s partnership with the 49er Farm, which was recently developed by Cathy Dangler in order to pursue one of her passions and provide healthy food to local food pantries, like the Sierra Community House Hunger Relief Program.
Over the course of the past year, TEA students in 5th, 7th and MS/HS have had the opportunity to work on the farm, including the planting and harvesting of 1,000 tomato plants which turned into hundreds of boxes of the best tomatoes in the world delivered to local food banks.
Believe us, the partnership has been as fruitful for the students as it has been for the farm. Thanks to Cathy, Joe and everyone at the farm for being such gracious hosts!
