Welcome to the last Hawk News of September!

Fall is definitely in the air today as we prepare to welcome in the month of October, where we will focus on the Character Trait of Collaboration. Be sure to ask your student what collaboration looks like for them in their classroom, during extra-curricular activities, and at home!

This afternoon at the Upper School town hall, our seniors received their very own TEA Backpacks - a gift we give to all of our graduates. We are excited to see what they will put in them both physically and metaphorically as they navigate the exciting year ahead. These waterproof packs are certain to serve them well in November when they head off to Belize.

In today's issue you'll find an overview of TEA's partnership with Well Beyond Academics, a welcome to the Mathewson family, a thank you to our Sign Up ParTEA hosts, and a last call for Lower School Pizza from TAP. As a reminder, next week 10/6-10/10 there is NO SCHOOL. We look forward to seeing you and your family back on campus Monday, October 13th.

A quick update on the Interim Head of School search from the Board... We have hosted three incredible candidates on campus over the past three weeks. Each candidate has brought unique strengths and perspectives and we are grateful to have their continued interest in leading TEA. The Board expects to have another update for the community in the coming weeks. We remain committed to finding the right leader in this moment. Thank you for your continued support.

P.R.E.P Beyond and K(NO)W Beyond at TEA

“That was fun!” Did we hear that 4th grader correctly?! We sure did!
We are excited to welcome Sarah and Autumn, two exceptional educators from  Well Beyond Academics (WBA), to campus this week. We are delighted to continue our five-year partnership with WBA as they lead our 4th-8th grade students in P.R.E.P. Beyond classes, focusing on various aspects of growing up. Additionally, our 6th-8th graders will participate in K(NO)W Beyond, a substance use prevention program. These classes are designed to foster comfortable conversations between children and the trusted adults in their lives. WBA encourages us to "keep talking" to our children and students about these important topics, integrating community and individual family values and expectations. If your child is participating in one or both of these programs and you have not yet watched the parent education events, we encourage you to do so. For more information about these programs, please refer to recent Parent Square posts which include links, resources, and dates for (6th Grade K(NO)W, 7th-8th Grade K(NO)W, and 4th-8th Grade P.R.E.P.).

Mathewson

Welcome to TEA Mathewson Family!

Scotty and Allie met living in Truckee back in 2010. We left for jobs in the Bay Area for about 10 years before making our way back up here. We love being able to walk out our back door and have access to the things we love. In our free time you can find us skiing, climbing, hanging at the lake/river, running, cooking, hanging with friends and family and traveling.

Scotty is a mechanical engineer and does product management for solar software companies. Allie is a leader at her family-business which does healthcare management consulting.

Mara is a caring, curious, observant little girl. She likes all things pink and unicorns and playing make-believe. She loves learning to ski in the winters and swim in the summers.

We are excited for the TEA community and the opportunity to meet other like minded families!

As we begin to enter the admissions season for the 26/27 school year, please consider sending this monthly publication to anyone who might be curious about our school.

Men's Mountain Biking

Thank you to our Sign Up parTEA Hosts!!!

This past weekend, TEA parents and supporters hosted two amazing Sign Up ParTEA experiences for our families. First up, Taylor Simmers, DC Larabee, and Skye Allsop hosted the annual Men's Mountain Biking weekend in Quincy. Thirteen brave and bold dads took to the dirt and crafted some amazing memories together. Next, the Reitter family hosted a Tuscany Cooking Class coupled with a delicious dining experience. Nicole and Caiden (11th grader) taught participants how to make fresh pasta, Ragu meat sauce, and amazing almond cookies from scratch and then we got to dine!! All the funds generated from these two events go directly towards supporting our school's mission. Have an idea for an experience you'd like to host, please reach out to Courtenay or Jill in the Development Office.
