TEA Faculty
Happy New Year!

Today on campus, our faculty was fully immersed in professional development, continuing the important work of refining our PreK–12 scope and sequence (what we teach, and when), and deepening our collective craft as educators. This morning’s work included a special focus on mathematics and fieldwork integration as teachers collaborated, reflected, and planned for the months ahead.

Watching this thoughtful, energized work unfold is inspiring and feels a bit like giving the TEA time to steep, allowing our program to grow stronger and more intentional with care.

Our 4th Grade Crew Leader Maude Meeker captured the value of this time beautifully, sharing:

“As teachers, we are constantly working to better our craft and move our practices forward so we can do the best we can for our students. However, doing this in a 45-minute prep block can get a little tricky. Professional development days allow us to lean into each other’s expertise, dive deeper into our craft with extended work blocks, and move forward together as a whole team. Whether through curriculum discussions, lesson preparation, or aligning pedagogy and best practices, the gift of time is a teacher’s favorite gift—and one that allows us to pour back into our classrooms and students.”

Hopefully you all had a wonderful break and will be returning tomorrow energized for the months to come. Please don’t forget your winter clothing so we can all enjoy the snowy wonderland!

Updated Math Curriculum for PreK-8th Grades

This winter and spring, our PreK–8 math program will gradually transition from Eureka Math and CPM to Eureka Math² through a careful, phased process. This approach allows teachers and students to become familiar with new materials and instructional changes while ensuring consistent learning. Families might observe slight differences in lesson layout, visuals, and practice exercises as we test and implement parts of Eureka Math².

Eureka Math² builds on the strengths of the original curriculum by offering clearer, more student-focused materials, better lesson pacing, and increased opportunities for understanding, discussion, and practice. It also strengthens support for differentiation and accessibility, enabling teachers to address diverse learner needs.

A complete rollout for PreK–8 is scheduled for next fall, ensuring a smooth, well-supported transition that maintains student comprehension, confidence, and progress.

If you have questions about this transition, please contact Kristen Giordano for Pre-K–5 grades or Andy Giordano for grades 6–8.
