Hawks Quote of the Week

“I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted. Books shouldn’t be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage.”
— Roald Dahl

Celebrations of Learning

Dear CommuniTEA,

It was marvelous to see so many of you at Culture Fest last Thursday! Watching TEA Junior Lola Slatt’s vision come to life with delicious food, fantastic music and gorgeous booths was truly inspiring.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll have multiple opportunities to see further examples of student creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration as we move into our end-of-the-year Celebrations of Learning. These sharing moments are intended to spark curiosity and foster thoughtful discussion.

What is COL? A community event during which students present various aspects of their project learning through informative, interactive, and engaging stations.

Why do we have it?
  • To bring the community together
  • To allow students to deepen learning by teaching others
  • To provide public speaking and presentation practice for students
  • To provide parents the opportunity to positively engage as audience members and to give positive feedback to students

When are they?
  • Wednesday, June 3rd - PreK-1st grade COL — 3:45p to 5:00p
  • Wednesday, June 3rd - 2nd -5th grade COL —  5:00p to 6:00p
  • Wednesday, June 10th - 6th - 12th grade COL —  4:15p to 5:30p

We look forward to celebrating with you!

TEA's Got Talent & LS Reading Challenge

Come rock out with us at TEA's Got Talent tomorrow night, Wednesday 5/27, from 5:30–7:30p at Alibi Ale Works.

Our students and rock/jazz bands have been working hard and are ready to light up the stage with rockin' tunes, big energy, different talents, and tons of heart. Bring your friends and family, grab a drink and some food, and let’s pack the place with cheers, applause, and love for these awesome performers. Let’s blow the roof off Alibi with support for our kids!

The Rainbow Run is This Sunday 5/31!

Get ready for one of the most joyful and colorful community celebrations of the year. TEA’s Rainbow Run 5k is just around the corner, and we need YOU there!

Whether you walk, run, dance, or simply come to celebrate, this event is all about community, inclusion, joy, and showing up for one another. Grab your friends, bring your family, and help us make this year’s event bigger and brighter than ever.

In true TEA fashion, our students will be right in the middle of the action:
  • TEA Middle Schoolers will be operating a Lithium Battery Recycling Booth; collecting lithium batteries to donate to Redwood Materials, a company that recycles them to make new electric car batteries. They will accept the following items: cell phones, smartphones, laptops, tablets, e-readers, smartwatches, bluetooth speakers, wireless earbuds, digital cameras, handheld games, gaming controllers, calculators, electric toothbrushes, shavers, medical devices, power tools, cordless vacuums, portable power banks, e-bikes, scooters, hoverboards.
  • TEA High Schoolers will be spreading color and creativity with face painting for kids and families.

The post-run mini festival will also feature several incredible vendors, activities, and community booths, including the always-beloved cupcake decorating station!

With Deep Gratitude for an Extraordinary Grit & Glamour Gala

Dear TEA CommuniTEA,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to finalize the numbers from this year’s Grit & Glamour Gala. We are thrilled to share that, together, our community generated more than $900,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships, donations, paddle raises, and auction purchases. After gala expenses and consignment costs are accounted for, the event will net more than $800,000 in direct support of TEA’s students, faculty, fieldwork, and financial assistance programs.

We truly could not be more grateful for the extraordinary generosity, spirit, and belief this community continues to show our school. The love and commitment demonstrated throughout the Gala was both humbling and deeply inspiring.

Your support means more to our teachers and students than can adequately be conveyed. In a moment when purposeful, human-centered education matters more than ever, your generosity is helping ensure that TEA continues to thrive and serve future generations of students.

If you have any questions about your Gala invoice or are unsure how you would like to finalize payment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to fundraising@tahoeexpeditionacademy.org. We are happy to help.

Thank you again for making this year’s Grit & Glamour Gala such a remarkable success.

With tremendous gratitude,
Courtenay, Jill and the entire gala TEAm
